Bernadette

Hello, I’m Bernadette. I have been in education for eight years and currently work at Woodlands School Hutton Manor. Although I often teach big classes, my passion is for working in small groups or one-to-one, as I find this most rewarding. I tailor my approach to tap into each child’s needs, finding out how they prefer to learn and adapting my style based on them as individuals. Yes, it is true that all children progress at their own rates, but I find that when you truly understand a child and work alongside them mindfully, you can see new skills developing all the time. What I love the most about teaching is seeing those lightbulb moments: you can feel the sense of wonder and pride the child feels as they figure out the solution to a problem or work something out for the first time. It is truly magical, a feeling like no other! This is what drives me to keep honing my craft. I have been lucky enough to have had some really inspiring training sessions recently that have injected new ideas and passion into my practice, and I am excited to implement these in a one-to-one tuition setting.

In my spare time I love to listen to all kinds of music and play the saxophone and the trumpet. I enjoy walking, dancing and being outdoors as much as possible, taking in all that life has to offer!
