about Amy
Hi, I’m Amy! I’m a qualified teacher with over 8 years of experience working with children across mainstream primary schools and specialist SEN settings.
I have experience teaching and supporting children across EYFS and Key Stages 1 and 2, with a particular focus on phonics, early reading, writing, spelling, maths and developing strong foundations for learning. I believe every child learns differently, so I take a patient, friendly and encouraging approach, adapting lessons to suit each child’s individual abilities, interests and learning style.
I have particular experience supporting children with special educational needs, communication difficulties, and social, emotional and behavioural needs. I am experienced in identifying individual areas for development and adapting teaching strategies to help children make meaningful progress, using assessment and progress information to identify gaps in learning and ensure lessons are targeted to each child’s needs. I have also completed additional training in Makaton, communication support, PECS, autism and sensory needs, giving me a range of strategies to support children with different learning needs.
I currently work within Children’s Services for my local council, supporting children and families. My current role continues to give me valuable experience in understanding children’s individual needs, circumstances and emotions, as well as working closely with families and professionals to ensure children are appropriately supported.
My aim is not only to help children achieve academically, but also to help them feel proud of their progress, develop confidence and enjoy learning. I would love the opportunity to help your child build confidence, enjoy learning and reach their potential.
