Home education

Home education support

One of the great strengths of home education is the freedom to shape learning around the child. We provide subject teaching and academic guidance that sit alongside your family’s own approach, from one subject to preparation for GCSEs.

alongside you

Academic expertise to complement your family’s approach

Families choose home education for many reasons and follow a wide variety of philosophies and methods. Emerson Tuition provides subject teaching and academic guidance that sit alongside your existing arrangements, whether you follow a structured curriculum, a child-led approach or something in between.

beyond the classroom

Learning beyond the classroom

Education doesn’t have to follow a school timetable or a classroom model to be purposeful and academically rich. We can work with you to set suitable learning goals, choose good resources and build knowledge step by step, giving structure in particular subjects while leaving you free to follow your wider educational interests.

philosophies

Different educational philosophies

We recognise the value families find in approaches such as Charlotte Mason, Waldorf Steiner education, Forest School and autonomous learning. These traditions offer different perspectives on childhood, curiosity, the natural world and the relationship between experience and academic study. We are happy to work within your chosen approach while drawing on our professional knowledge of teaching and learning.

qualifications

GCSEs and other qualifications

Home-educated students may choose to work towards GCSEs or other recognised qualifications. We provide subject teaching, syllabus guidance and exam preparation, and we can help you think through suitable pathways and realistic timescales.

parents

Working alongside parents

Parents stay at the centre of their children’s home education, but they needn’t provide every part of the academic teaching themselves. Some families want specialist support in a core subject simply to foster a love of it. Others want an outside educator to give structure, feedback or exam preparation. We offer regular lessons or targeted support, depending on your priorities.
